A Week since DTV Switch Over
It's been a week since the DTV Switch over and I've gone cold turkey without my favorite shows. I'm mourning those kind voices I loved. For a week I have not heard the voices of Alex trebek or Charlie Rose. More depressing news: today is also Sister R.'s Birthday. To mark this date I decided to buy myself a gift instead. I've just ordered the DVD "Cheeni Kum". For me, not that ingrate. Needless to say, I will ignore Father's Day this year too. Great Day In Cuba
On Tuesday Feb.12,'08 I received from Bestbuy.com my very own DVD of the Documentary film "Great Day in Havana". Little did I know that exactly one week later on the 19th of February the news of Fidel Castro's resignation would be broadcast to the world. Now let's hope that Fidel's brother Raul resigns too, and soon. Current Mood: hopefulCurrent Music: robinson by Carlos Varela | | Friday, June 22nd, 2007 | | 6:23 pm |
Dying of Silence / Finding your gold My favorite lines from the film "Children of Paradise" are spoken by the frustrated actor Frederick who must perform mute. Finally fed up with such restrictions he exclaims: I'm dying of silence, like others die of hunger or thirst. Joan of Arc was lucky--she heard voices! My second favorite quote right now is from the film "Real Women Have Curves". It's when Ana's Granddad tells her, "I have found my Gold, You are my Gold. Now I want you to find yours" Current Mood: frustratedCurrent Music: Send in the clowns | | Thursday, May 10th, 2007 | | 7:52 pm |

Happy Birthday Rosie / "Lost" Has Lost Me
Yesterday on "The View" reminded me of Rosie O'Donnell's old show. That is, she used her original talk show and her celebrity to promote Broadway and everyone and everything that depended on those shows for a livelihood and entertainment. And that's why we fans love Rosie. Now, about my formerly favorite TV show, " Lost", I'm disgusted with it now,and for good reason. The most important reason is that for the last two weeks there were hints and suggestions that Dominic Monaghan's character, Charlie, would be killed off. Ok, that's it for me, because the only reason I got sucked into watching this show in the first place was because the promos featured Dominic and I wanted to see more of him. But this once innovative show "Lost" me when they diminished the storylines of the original crash survivors we came to care about. For example, What became of mystery-boy Walt? And is Sun pregnant or not? She doesn't look pregnant. And Why did Michael have to become a ladykiller? If you can call that butch ex-cop a lady. One more disappointing episode and I'm done with the whole show . http://www.rosiesbroadwaykids.org/ http://www.broadwayworld.com/ Current Mood: nostalgicCurrent Music: "What About Love?",TheColorPurple | | Monday, January 29th, 2007 | | 6:56 pm |

Oprah Encore:A MOTHER BURNED ALIVE BY HER HUSBAND
Yesterday,I had to force myself to watch an encore showing of this Oprah show about domestic abuse. When I watched it the first time back in May I had to watch it with little five minute breaks for myself to keep from becoming totally devastated myself over the victim's plight, because it's my plight too, only it's my parents who physically and emotionally abuse me. But it's my siblings who keep silent and thus condone our parents' twisted, unnatural behavior toward me. Sad to say, it's my Brother Jay and Sister Kay who are even more culpable than the abusers themselves. Yes, it's my siblings's silence that has done me the most harm. Just this week I withdrew my complaint of abuse in Family Court which I now deeply regret doing. And after watching Oprah's show and seeing that poor disfigured victim again I know I must flee my parents and petition the Family Court again, asking to have the Orders of Protection re-validated, or whatever the legal term is for it. Of course, no mere piece of paper can protect me from my abusive, bully father, but it can point the finger in his direction if he finally succeeds in killing or maiming me. I keep my spirits up by thinking of other feisty, inspiring survivors of domestic abuse whether they are real or in books or films. I'm comforted by the scrounging, survival tactics of battered kids like Lipka that poor, abused stepson and Nature Boy of the film "Zelary" and like Harry Potter of the book series. Yes, I plan to be a survivor, like these two and live to tell the tale. And I thank Oprah for bringing us viewers once again the tragic, but inspiring story of Yvette Cade whose enduring spirit helped me get through the night and reminded me to follow through with what I have to do to keep myself safe, even if it's a shame that it's my own family I must guard myself against. Barnes&Noble Events:Jim Dale /Plane Crash&Infamous
WEDNESDAY,OCT 11 AT 10:OOAM Special Guest Meet Broadway Star Jim Dale The students of Hemlock School will enjoy a morning visit with Jim Dale, Broadway legend and the voice of the Harry Potter audio books. Mr. Dale will read from and sign copies of a newly released audio of Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie. Walk-ins are also welcome. I learned of the N.Y.C.Plane Crash after attending the Barnes&Noble book signing (I was standing in line to pay my LIPA bill and there was a TV, mounted over my head tuned to CNN.) Ever since last year I planned to catch the second new biopic of Truman Capote, "Infamous", just so I could see Toby Jones in what I expect to be his Break-out role. Then I caught Charlie Rose's Interview on PBS (He interviewed Toby Jones and Sandra Bullock who star in this new film.) Charlie Rose: The movie is called "Infamous". It's in theaters on Friday October 13th. (Oh,then next Charlie Rose Interviewed writer Anna Quindlen after Toby and Sandra.) **First Sam Goody and SunCoast went out of business and this month it's Tower Records' turn to go under. Now I really am depressed. ** http://www.pbs.org/wnet/wideangle/shows/russia/handbook2.html ** PBS-TV Decided to re-air the 2004 documentary featuring the recently slain Russian investigative reporter Anna Politkovskaya. In her honor, I also tried to sit through the Dvd of the biopic "Veronica Guerin" yesterday, but it was hard for me to watch films about injustices or abuses. But I suffered through. "Kolya" and "Zelary": Bookends, My Friends
I just bought my very own copy of "Kolya" today. This wonderfully touching and funny foreign film will serve as a bookend to my other favorite Czech film "Zelary". Now as for, "Kolya",I can't wait to see how the DVD version compares to the VHS video I've been watching. The best thing will be the fact that I'll be able to select and view repeatedly the scene in which Klara sings Dvorak's "Songs My Mother Taught Me", because before "Kolya" I had never before heard it sung by a female singer. That is, I used to cry whenever I listened to my recording of Paul Robeson singing that song, in English, in that wonderfully deep, resonant voice of his. I also recently got around to seeing "The White Countess", starring that very handsome Ralph Fiennes and the entire Redgrave Family of Players, except maybe Jemma and Corin. And then I topped that film off with a viewing of Whoopi Goldberg's new dual-disc Dvd "Whoopi:Back to Broadway" which marked the 20th Anniversary of her One-Woman show which Mike Nichols produced as HBO specials in 1985 and then again in 2005 . Thanks Mike. Oh,how I've come to love the Lovers and Villagers of "Zelary". http://www.sonyclassics.com/zelary/ __ http://www.RomanProZeny.cz ___ //___ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081344/ __// http://www.wordbook.cz Current Mood: pensiveCurrent Music: "Songs My Mother Taught Me":Paul Robeson | | Monday, May 22nd, 2006 | | 3:30 pm |
Rosie O'Donnell's Finale on May 22,2002
Today is the fourth anniversary of Rosie O'Donnell's final show, thus this is a bittersweet anniversary for me. I miss her and the joy and solace she and her show brought me back then. O.K. I know she will be coming to "The View" in September, but it just won't be the same. I'm set to watch and record "Oprah's Legends Ball" tonight. And thank God she brought all these wonderfully brave and creative women together because I just learned this morning that we lost another one of them. The Great Katherine Dunham passed away over the weekend. And Of course, another of the Legends, Coretta Scott King, passed in January. Rosie,Patti, and Peter comforted me on my very own Bastille Day, July 14th 1998, so I choose as my music theme here their song,"Old Fashioned Wedding"as sung by Patti Lupone and Peter Gallagher for Rosie on her show that July day ,It gave me joy. My Link of Admiration: Years ago I was lucky enough to see Patti LuPone and Peter Gallagher perform on Broadway, she in the musical "Evita", and he in the play "The Corn Is Green" in which he co-starred with Cicely Tyson, one of the great Black women Oprah paid tribute to at her "Legends Ball". http://WWW.Rosie.com http://WWW.Oprah.com http://WWW.Jeopardy.com // May is also the month of "The Profile in Courage Award" // http://www.jfklibrary.org/Education+and+Public+Programs/Profile+in+Courage+Award/ Current Mood: touchedCurrent Music: "Old Fashioned Wedding"by Patti LuPone&Peter Gallagher | | Sunday, April 30th, 2006 | | 4:45 pm |
"Richard Cory":the last of April and Poetry Month
"Richard Cory","A Dream Deferred",And Other April Miscellany "A Dream Deferred" by Langston Hughes What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore-- And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over-- like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. Or does it EXPLODE? "Richard Cory" Whenever Richard Cory went down town, We people on the pavement looked at him: He was a gentleman from sole to crown, clean favored, and imperially slim. And he was always quietly arrayed, And he was always human when he talked; but still he fluttered pulses when he said, "Good-morning", and he glittered when he walked. And he was rich -yes,richer than a king- And admirably schooled in every grace; In fine we thought that he was everything To make us wish that we were in his place. So on we worked, and waited for the light, And went without the meat, and cursed the bread; And Richard Cory, one calm summer night, Went home and put a bullet through his head. by Edwin Arlington Robinson Current Mood: gloomyCurrent Music: "The Sun Whose Rays" by Shirley Henderson | | Saturday, April 29th, 2006 | | 6:29 pm |
Judas-Brother on April 29,2004 & April 29,2006
April 29 2006 is the sad 2nd anniversary of the day my back-stabbing Judas Brother John cornered me in the bathroom against the sink and shouted at me, "I don't take no for an answer,I get what I want,I have a job!!" And he wanted my house and demanded that I sign it over to him if I wanted to leave that bathroom in one piece. My God, I was shocked and overwhelmed. I had been telling him "No" for two months before that day, but he refused to leave me alone. And now here he was bogarting me like a damn stalker. His reserved resentment had become more like Dad's violent behavior against me. Yet I managed to squeeze out from under him and fled the house. The Phoenix Lament / Harry Potter Fans Grieve Again
"Ron--Dumbledore's dead", said Ginny. "No!" Lupin looked wildly from Ginny to Harry, as though hoping the latter might contradict her, but when Harry did not, Lupin collapsed into a chair beside Bill's bed, his hands over his face. This is...not the moment to discuss it, said Lupin,"Dumbledore is dead..." "Dumbledore would have been happier than anybody to think that there was a little more love in the world",said Professor McGonagall curtly, just as the hospital doors opened again and Hagrid walked in. "Is it true?" whispered the Fat-Lady as he approached her. "It is really true? Dumbledore--dead?" "Yes", said Harry. She let out a wail and, without waiting for the Password, swung forward to admit him. Well, while others might grieve for Dumbledore,I feel a deeper sense of grief and loss for poor Bill. He is now mutilated for life and his future is so uncertain because of the possible after-effects of those vile bites he received from Greyback. The reason I have Bill on my mind right now is because last night I stayed up to watch the Robert Redford/Morgan Freeman film "An Unfinished Life" which was finally released on DVD last Tuesday. Morgan Freeman's character in this film made me think of Bill because he too is mauled and mutilated by a wild animal and his quality of life is thus drasticly changed. MY OPINION OF THE FILM "AN UNFINISHED LIFE" AND BILL WEASLEY'S MUTILATION BY MAULING IN "HARRY POTTER6": Sad,so overwhelmingly sad for me. Jane Fonda on "Good Morning America",My reward for getting thru Easter
This morning I watched Jane Fonda endure being interviewed by Charlie in order to promote the paperback version of the Memoirs she was selling last year, which I did buy ,but I never did get out to that Suffolk County bookstore to have it autographed. I wanted to see her, but I didn't want to be stranded out in Suffolk on a Sunday. But, of course, the true reason I didn't go is that I didn't have the courage to go begging for an autograph in public. I knew I wouldn't have felt comfortable in that crowded bookstore. She's going to be in New York City this evening at Barnes and Noble. Damn, I wish I could be there, but no way will I endure such a crowd, not even to see Jane Fonda in person. P.S.11:P.M. Lucky me. In the evening I caught Jane Fonda again being interviewed, this time by Barbara Walters who was sitting in for Charlie Rose while he's recuperating from heart surgery. American Idol Kevin Covais & Sgt. John Covais,I.A.Cover-Up Artist
I HOPE TO GOD THAT "AMERICAN IDOL" TEEN, KEVIN COVAIS, IS NOT THE SAME SON THAT THAT DEMON SGT.COVAIS REFERRED TO WHEN HE FACETIOUSLY ASKED ME IF I HAD MY PIZZA DELIVERED LIKE IN THE FILM "HOME ALONE". AT THE TIME I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL HE WAS TALKING ABOUT, SO I FIGURED HE WAS JUST TRYING TO SIDE-TRACK THE ISSUE AS USUAL, SINCE IT WAS HIS HABIT TO FRUSTRATE ANY ASSAULT VICTIM OR THE VICTIM'S FAMILY WITH A LEGITIMATE COMPLAINT AGAINST GULOTTA'S GOONS. THAT IS WHY I CAN HONESTLY SAY WITHOUT SLANDER THAT SGT. COVAIS LIKE MOST OF HIS COLLEAGUES IN INTERNAL AFFAIRS IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH OF THOMAS PIZZUTO IN JANUARY 1999. YES, HE'S DEFINITELY GOT PIZZUTO'S BLOOD ON HIS HANDS. THE BASTARD EVEN TOLD ME HE CALLED A MILK DAIRY AND TRIED TO GET THEM TO PRESS CHARGES AGAINST ME FOR USING THEIR MILK CRATE AS A SOAPBOX WHEN I PICKETED THE JAIL FROM ACROSS THE STREET. OH, MY GOD THERE'S NOTHING THAT DEMON WOULDN'T DO TO COVER FOR HIS GOONS, BUT I WON'T LET THOUGHTS OF HIM RUIN MY WEEK-END NOW. PS:For Lovely Linda. The only decent, kind, person who works in Sgt. Covais's Department is a civilian,Linda. Hi,Lovely Linda, you saved my life, you alone made up for your demon boss and his goons and all the frustrations, stonewalling, and cover-ups. Some Lawyers Who Have Given Jews A Bad Name:Sperber,Schultz,Bloom,Davis, Berkowitz
I regret to have to give such a title to my sorry catalog, but it's a very sad truth that I have been fucked-over by numerous Jewish Lawyers, many of them were colleagues and cronies of that most-corrupt shyster, former County Executive, Thomas Gulotta. My last trial by fire was more than another go-round of malicious prosecution. Last time Gulotta had his thugs and goons break down the door of my home without even knocking, but just laughing out a singsong "Coming through!!" I insisted on seeing a warrant and knowing who they were, but again Gulotta's Goons just laughed in reply. Later, every crackhead, thief, booster and guard seemed to be more informed of my case then I was, since I was intentionally left in the dark by that Bitch Jew shyster Meryl Berkowitz. She,as many informed jailbirds later told me, was "Appointed" judge by Gulotta as a reward for what she did to undermine my case and me. For instance, without consulting me she waived my right to have the charges read out in court, and worse yet she refused to tell me what they were. She even ignored my requests to see written copies of the charges, the bogus bullshit charges. All this was so that Mr. Gulotta's name would not be read out in court. It was a total violation of all my rights to Due Process. In fact, Many people familiar with the way Gulotta's people work, told me not to worry because I was just being held until The Goodwill Games were over because Gulotta didn't want me to lead a protest against him during a period when he would be making a political bid for world-wide exposure on CNN at The Goodwill Games. How ironic! At the time, I thought those people were just passing on bullshit rumors. Well, let me now name the unethical lawyers who first gave Jews a bad name in my book. It saddens me to have to taint a whole race and profession because of the evil that has been done to me by some: Namely Attorneys Leonard Sperber,Claudia Schultz,Eliot Bloom and Brian Davis.
